WELCOME TO VERONA, city of love

There is no world without Verona walls, But purgatory, torture, hell itself. Hence-banished is banish’d from the world, And world’s exile is death

Verona Boscomantico Airport is located on the northeastern border of the Municipality of Verona. The proximity to the city and the most important tourist attractions of the province have made it a point of reference for many visitors who have landed here from Italy and neighboring countries in the last decades.

THE AMERICAN PERIOD

THE AMERICAN PERIOD

During the Second World War it was subjected to many bombings.  After the First World War, huge investments were needed to cover the craters caused by the bombs and to build the asphalt track.
On September 2, 1958, a joint Italian-American ceremony marked the opening of the 1,005-metre runway at the new Boscomantico Airport.
The SETAF Airport, which once completed costed $372,000, would be used mainly by the American Army until the end of the ‘70s, when they moved permanently at the Vicenza Military Base.

THE BIRTH OF THE AIRPORT

THE BIRTH OF THE AIRPORT

The Airport was born as one of the Military bases for the Aviation Section of the Specialist Battalion of the Royal Army.
In January 1911, the Ausonia bis of Nino Piccoli took off from here, and from March 25th the first military airships began to arrive.
In 1913 it was the home of the Parseval Airliner. The Airship Shipyard was equipped with all auxiliary services and had a field of manoeuvre that, in 1916, housed the III Airplane Group, which participated in the First World War.
